Country Style Essential Items

No matter how much I try, the countryside is and always will be a part of me. Even though I grew up in a town, on the weekends I would spend them at my grandparents in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir, running around in open fields, pretending to catch fish in the canal and general enjoying the fresh air. I am so pleased that I have been able to raise my children in the countryside too, giving them the experiences and more that I loved as a child.

Now there is a different style set for living in the country, fashionable and practical at the same time. A really important aspect of country clothing is durability as well as comfort and style. Having clothes that look good, feel great and can withstand the mud and barbwire fences is a must for country life!

Here is The Go To Mum’s Country Style Essential Items:

Wellies. Wellies have been an essential part of my wardrobe since just before Christmas. I need them to walk the dog, hang my washing out and take the kids to school. Mud is everywhere we are here, especially on our front door step!

Jacket. A good quality warm yet fashionable jacket is as essential as the wellies, which is why it is mentioned second on the list. Tweed jackets are some of my most favorite as they look fabulous at the same time as being practical. If I was to choose a tweed jacket for myself I’d go for one of the tweed jackets from Joules , they last a lifetime and look great even when you leave the countryside and venture into urban life.

Hat. Where we live is very open and on the side of a hill which, when the wind gets up, is very cold and extremely windy. Having a good hat is what can make walking the dog in these conditions an enjoyable chore. A waterproof hat is always an added bonus but at present I currently have a simple wooly one to keep my ears warm.

These are just three of my top country-style essential items, what would you add to your list?

Though we don’t live in the country wellies, warm coat and hat are worn here too!

Can’t live without wellies, even a dog walk to the park see’s me wearing them and so easy to slip on and off saves getting muddy hands taking other shoes or boots off!
